Racing

Have you ever thought about the advantages that race training can bring to your skiing:

Slalom Skier
  • agile technique
  • strong confident movement patterns
  • make the turn you want when you want and where you want
  • improvements in strength and agility
  • exciting competition from fun racing, club national, grand prix upwards
  • performance skiing at the highest
  • direct links into instructor training programmes

The training programmes that we deliver in conjunction with the Midland Ski Club are very comprehensive, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills and excel in a competition environment.

The basis of our development strategy is to use strong snow based techniques that are transferable on to all skiing surfaces. We aim to develop everyone's all-round basic skiing skills by concentrating initially an as required on the 'FUNdamentals' of skiing and basic movement patterns. By doing this we ensure that each racer can continually develop their skills without relearning.

This is augmented by a structured development programme (Long Term Athlete Development - LTAD), with the individual at its heart complemented by a 1-to-1 programme that is tailored to the individual for accelerated learning and continuous performance improvement . Racers will move through a series stages in each group relevant to their current ski racing skill, achievement level (seed points) and effective competition level:

  • 'Learning to Train',
  • 'Training to Train',
  • 'Training to Compete'
  • and 'Training to Win'

Our training programmes are also arranged so that what we concentrate on each year is linked into the competition cycle (Periodisation). As a rough guide, this means that we will get more intensive with our gate training elements towards the major competition dates away from these we will concentrate more on skill development.
